ALPHINGTON SPUR PEDESTRIAN PATH BEING RESTORED

Works begin this week to restore the pedestrian connection across the Alphington Rail Spur, meaning residents will once again be able to cross north and south of the site.

Works to reinstate the pathway between Hanslope Avenue and Hamilton Street will be carried out by VicTrack.

The pathway is a vital link between Alphington and Fairfield Village and surrounding areas. It will ensure residents are able to once again have direct access schools, kindergartens, local businesses, parks and other amenities.

The works start during the week of Monday 17 June, and are expected to take around two weeks to complete. They will be carried out on weekdays during normal construction hours, and involve installing a pipe across a new drainage culvert, and construction works to build a new path.

The Alphington Spur is currently occupied by the Level Crossing Removal Project, and VicTrack will be engaging with local residents and stakeholders, including Darebin Council, about the future of the site.
