Bell Primary SchooL

stage 2 upgrade and modernisation

Investment: $7.2 million
Status: Completed

The spectacular new competition grade gymnasium and performance hall at Bell Primary is now officially complete, with students now learning and playing inside.

This is an immensely exciting milestone for the school, made possible through a $7.2 million dollar investment from the State Labor Government. Our community worked hard to secure this – and now our dream has come to life.

The new gym-hall means students will expand their learning in music, performing arts and sport. Theres a new outside school hours care space with kitchen and storage, plus doors which open to a gorgeous new outdoor amphitheatre.

Most importantly, the whole school will now finally be able to join together under one roof for events!

It’s been a special journey with Bell Primary as well we collaborated to build support for this project. I want to thank everyone who contributed along the way,  including Principal David Twite, parents on the school council over the years, and our fantastic student advocates.

Good local schools are the cornerstones for our community. As your MP I’ll always fight for every student to have the opportunities they deserve, no matter their background or circumstances.

Schools like Bell Primary nurture the next generation to learn and thrive. I am so proud to support this remarkable community with the facilities to go even further.

Stage 1

Investment: $2 million
Status: Stage 1 - Completed

It was a wonderful moment to celebrate with Bell Primary School as we delivered Stage 1 of the Masterplan - a major refurbishment of the original main building. The $2 million project completely modernised the schools library as well as providing flexible learning spaces and ‘wet area’ for STEM learning.

For more information on Stage 1 or to view the renders of the reconfiguration, check out the Victorian School Building Authority Website.

I was also pleased to be able to get the school some extra maintenance funding from the Department of Education to make sure that the old building was sealed and secure from the elements to keep the brand new facilities in the best possible shape.

This is on top of the $200,000 we funded to build a new community oval for Bell Primary in partnership with the Darebin Falcons - no more dust bowls!
