Croxton School

Upgrade & Modernisation

Investment: $7.985 million
Status: Completed

Croxton School is just getting better and better! Croxton has benefited from Victoria's largest-ever single investment in upgrading specialist schools. 39 schools have had a total of $388.8 million invested into them to make sure they continue to meet the needs of their communities.

Croxton now boasts a brand-new specialist learning building designed to meet the diverse needs of its students and support a rich, inclusive educational experience. The new building includes shared and hands-on learning spaces that encourage engagement and creativity, as well as a dedicated performing arts and drama area where students can explore their artistic expression and build confidence. Additionally, there is a fully equipped food technology kitchen and café and physical therapy areas for students.

Alongside the new specialist building, the school has also benefited from upgraded gymnasium facilities, enhancing opportunities for physical activity and school events. The grounds have been completely transformed with new landscaping, creating a more accessible, welcoming, and enjoyable environment for all students, staff, and families.

Additionally, I am excited to announce that the Victorian Labor Government has introduced High Intensity Outside of School Hours Care free of charge for Croxton and other specialist schools across the state.

High intensity OSHC was developed to support specialist school students’ families who say finding affordable outside school hours or holiday care that gives their kids the level of support they need is one of their biggest challenges.

This year’s expansion of High Intensity OSHC will be followed by a further five schools set to incorporate these services in 2026, delivering on the Labor Government’s promise to build on the pilot program established in 2018.

Croxton has long been recognised for its caring, student-centred approach, and these modern facilities ensure that the school can continue to deliver world-class education in a setting that reflects the dignity and diversity of every student.

Croxton is now even better equipped to support students to thrive, and I look forward to seeing even more good things happen at Croxton!

UPGRADES AT CROXTON

Investment: $5 million

Status: Completed

The amazing Principal Bev Fegan has been working hand in hand with me as we’ve delivered new classrooms, therapy areas and a sensory play areas for students and staff.

Minister Merlino joined me in 2019 to officially celebrate the completion of Stage 1 of the school’s masterplan. The $5 Million project delivered new therapy, learning and play spaces. We also surprised the school with an additional $10,000 for a Permaculture Food Forest!

It’s been wonderful to see the new outdoor sensory play area come to life as well, with an additional $198,000 grant from the State Labor Government. Bryant Alsop Architects were appointed to design the outdoor sensory play area, and have done a fantastic job in helping bring this vision to life.
