Fairfield Primary SchooL

Stage 2 & 3 Upgrade and modernisation

Investment: $7 million
Status: Completed

I’m thrilled to share that Fairfield Primary School has officially completed its long-anticipated upgrade, delivering brand-new facilities, expanded capacity, and an even better learning environment for our students.

Backed by $7 million in funding from the State Labor Government, this project marks a major milestone for one of our community’s most loved and respected schools. With increased capacity for an additional 200 students, Fairfield Primary is now even better equipped to meet the needs of our growing inner-north.

A highlight of the upgrade is the brand-new learning hub on Wingrove Street, adjacent to the existing school grounds. This modern space now houses dedicated classrooms for Years 5 and 6, giving senior students room to grow, collaborate, and thrive in an environment designed just for them.

Students of all year levels are also enjoying beautifully landscaped new play areas, thoughtfully designed to support active play and connection. At the same time, the school’s existing buildings have been reconfigured and refurbished, breathing new life into familiar spaces and enhancing the learning experience for all.

Fairfield Primary has always been a place where students are nurtured, families feel welcome, and learning flourishes. This investment ensures those values continue well into the future, with facilities that match the passion and dedication of its teachers, staff and broader school community.

As your local MP, I’m proud to have fought for this upgrade – and I want to thank the Fairfield Primary community for their advocacy, patience and partnership throughout this journey. Together, we’ve delivered something truly special for the next generation.

Stage 1 upgrade and modernisation

Investment: $2.5 million
Status: Stage 1 Upgrades - Completed

As part of the of the State Budget delivered in May 2016, the Andrews Government announced funding for the planning of Masterplans for selected schools across Victoria, including Fairfield Primary.

The $2.5 million, Stage 1 of the School’s Modernisation was completed in 2019 - I was delighted to officially open the new buildings and plant a tree with the help of some of the students (pictured below).

You can also view the video of when I rose in Parliament to speak about the occasion.
