LET’S GET BETTER SAFETY AT STATION STREET & WINGROVE STREET IN FAIRFIELD!

Will you sign the pledge to build support for these improvements?

We love our Fairfield Village – and we think it can be even better with improvements to road safety around Station Street and Wingrove Streets.

This intersection is a pressure point for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians – we’ve all seen the near misses and sometimes the collisions.

That’s why I’ve been pushing to get a road safety upgrade in this area and I’m calling on your support to make it happen.

In 2018 I wrote to Darebin Council to secure additional refuge islands and clearer road markings at the intersection. That was completed in late 2019 - but more work is needed.

So in 2020 I brought the Minister for Roads out to Fairfield Village to take a look. The Minister was able to see what locals see every day.

I also spoke in the Parliament of Victoria to ask the Department of Transport to investigate this intersection and make recommendations for improvements.

In 2021, VicRoads completed bright green and yellow markings on Station Street at this intersection to improve visibility and safety, including adding large KEEP CLEAR and WATCH FOR BIKES markings on the road.

This is a busy intersection in a popular shopping strip in close proximity to schools and Fairfield Train Station. It’s used by a whole cross section of our community, from students to commuters to parents with prams and elderly people.

I still believe more can be done to improve safety at this location - and have been advocating with Darebin Council and the State Government for a joint project to see more substantive improvements.

Let’s demonstrate that our community wants an upgrade and what the community thinks it should be.

Will you pledge your support for an upgrade?

I support a safety upgrade for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians at the intersection of Station Street and Wingrove Street in Fairfield.

Thank you for signing the pledge. I will keep you updated on the project.
