The Allan Labor Government is backing the heartbeat of local communities with a new wave of sports club grants ─ providing more opportunities for people to get involved in the community and sports they love.
Acting Minister for Community Sport Gayle Tierney announced funding for sports clubs across Victoria through the Sporting Club Grants Program.
The program provides funding for equipment and uniforms, taking the financial burden off clubs and support for volunteers and officials to learn new skills and deliver new programs ─ helping local clubs grow.
In Northcote:
Northcote United Cricket Club will receive $1,000 for on-field uniforms and equipment.
Darebin United (Apollo) Soccer Club will receive $5,000 to upskill volunteers, coaches and officials.
and,
Victorian Roller Derby League will receive $937.65 for on-field uniforms and equipment.
Since 2014, The Sporting Club Grants Program has invested more than $19.5 million in local communities to support thousands of sport and recreation clubs across the state.
The program is backed by the Regional Community Sport Development Fund which is delivering infrastructure upgrades and other programs including the Regional Community Sport Infrastructure Fund to help more regional Victorians to get active and be a part of their local sporting clubs.
The Victorian Budget 2025/26 is investing in real cost of living help for families, with $15 million to deliver the popular $200 Get Active Kids Vouchers for another two years – helping more kids get involved in local sport and stay active. “For many in my community one thing that has been made clear … is just how important local sports clubs and competitions are to them. Our sporting clubs are so much more than a place where we play sport. They are our community.”
