Creative Organisations in Northcote Backed by Allan Labor Government
Creative organisations in the Northcote electorate will share in a major investment by the Allan Labor Government, strengthening local jobs, creative practice and community access to the arts.
As part of the latest round of the Creative Enterprises Program, five inner north organisations have secured multi-year funding to continue their vital work supporting artists, audiences and inclusive creative experiences.
Successful local recipients include Circus Nexus, Gertrude Contemporary, Multicultural Arts Victoria, Speak Percussion, and Arts Project Australia - organisations that collectively support artists of all ages and abilities, amplify diverse voices, and place Northcote at the heart of Victoria’s creative life.
The Creative Enterprises Program provides two to four years of operational funding to organisations that demonstrate leadership in the creative industries and deliver strong social, cultural and economic benefits. Across Victoria, 81 organisations are being supported under the program, in line with the Government’s Creative State 2028 strategy.
Member for Northcote, Kat Theophanous MP, said the funding recognises the extraordinary contribution local creative organisations make to the community.
“Northcote has a proud creative heart, and these organisations are a huge part of what makes our community so vibrant, inclusive and connected,” Ms Theophanous said.
“This investment backs local jobs, supports artists to build sustainable careers, and ensures people of all backgrounds can access and participate in creative life right here in our neighbourhoods.”
“From supporting neurodivergent artists and artists with disability, to championing multicultural voices and creating world-class contemporary work, these organisations show exactly why Victoria is the creative state.”
The Allan Labor Government’s investment will help creative organisations plan for the long term, expand their programs, and continue delivering high-quality creative experiences for Victorians.
