Hi, I’m Kat Theophanous - the Labor Member of Parliament for Northcote in the Victorian Legislative Assembly.

PLANNING FOR A BETTER FAIRLEA SPORTS PRECINCT

PLANNING FOR A BETTER FAIRLEA SPORTS PRECINCT

A re-elected Carroll Labor Government will invest $100,000 to plan for the future of the Fairlea Sports Precinct at Yarra Bend Park, Fairfield.

Local clubs and families need facilities that keep up with a growing community – and getting the planning right is the first step.

That’s why Labor will back the local council and deliver up to $100,000 towards a masterplan for the Fairlea Sports Precinct, guiding future upgrades for local clubs.

The Fairlea Sports Precinct is a hub for sporting clubs in the inner north – and this planning will help them grow with the community.

Labor backs community sport.

A Liberal-One Nation Coalition Government would cut it.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence

“Local sporting clubs bring people together – and Labor is backing them.”

“This will give players, volunteers and families a place they can be proud of.”

Quotes attributable to Member for Northcote Kat Theophanous

“Our local clubs bring people together and give so many young people their first opportunity to get involved in sport. This $100,000 commitment backs their future, with proper planning for more sports capacity at Fairlea.”

“Yarra Jets & Red Tag Fly Fishers have put considerable work into a vision for the precinct. We’re funding the next step: working with stakeholders to establish what can be built, what it will cost and how it can be delivered.”

"Our clubs deserve commitments backed by real work, not empty promises. This investment will help turn their ideas into a clear plan for future improvements, while respecting the parkland and the other user groups that call Fairlea home.”
