My question is to the Minister for Public Transport.
How is the government working to deliver more regular outbound Hurstbridge Line services during the weekday evening peak, so Fairfield, Alphington and Westgarth locals have more frequent options to get home from the city?
Good public transport is vital to a sustainable inner north. People choose to live here because they can jump on a train and get into the city easily for work, study and everything in between.
But we need more regular services on the way home. The evening peak has a 20-minute gap for outbound trains. The express doesn’t stop in our suburbs.
If you miss the 5:11 from Flinders to Fairfield, you’re waiting till 5:31 to get on a train. If you miss that, you’re on the 5:51.
Our government has invested significantly in the Hurstbridge Line. Extra Sunday services have started, and we welcome more services coming next year.
As part of this, we want more regular weekday peak-hour trains for our locals – making the commute home from the city easier and more reliable.
