Hi, I’m Kat Theophanous - the Labor Member of Parliament for Northcote in the Victorian Legislative Assembly.

PLANNING A SAFER STATION STREET FOR FAIRFIELD

PLANNING A SAFER STATION STREET FOR FAIRFIELD

A re-elected Carroll Labor Government will invest $1 million to plan for pedestrian safety improvements on Station Street in the Fairfield Village precinct.

Locals walk along Station Street in the Fairfield Village precinct every day. But at Station and Wingrove Streets, pedestrians, cyclists, trains, buses and turning traffic all converge in a busy, constrained space.

That’s why Labor will invest in the design of pedestrian safety improvements, including a new raised pedestrian crossing.

Design planning will focus on how to improve safety for pedestrians and all road users.

This means working people will be able to get where they need to go safer and sooner.

Labor knows local communities deserve safe, well-connected local roads.

That’s why Labor is backing safety upgrades on the roads that locals use every day.

But a Liberal-One Nation Coalition Government and their $40 billion worth of cuts would put this at risk.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Roads and Road Safety Paul Hamer

“We are getting back to basics by improving the local roads working people rely on every day.”

Quotes attributable to Member for Northcote Kat Theophanous

“Fairfield Village is such a special part of our community. I’ve worked closely with local residents, schools and traders to secure pedestrian refuges and clearer road markings, and I brought the Roads Minister on site to see the challenges firsthand.”

“I’m proud to have secured this important commitment to design the next stage of safety upgrades, laying the groundwork for a long-term solution that will make Fairfield Village safer and easier for everyone to get around.”
